INVERNESS, Marin County — October 31, 2026. The Inverness branch of Marin County Free Library is among ten public library branches included in a countywide facility refresh program that officials celebrated as completed on October 29, 2026.
What is the project?
According to Marin County’s October 29 announcement, the $3.4 million Library Refresh Project began in September 2025 and concluded in September 2026. It covered Inverness as well as Point Reyes Station, Stinson Beach, Marin City, Bolinas, South Novato, Civic Center, Fairfax, Novato and Corte Madera.
The program is funded through revenue associated with Measure B, approved by voters in 2022. The county describes improvements intended to make library spaces more welcoming, comfortable and accessible. The $3.4 million figure covers all ten branches, not Inverness alone.
What does this mean for Inverness?
A local library offers much more than a place to borrow books: it can support research, reading and public access to information in an area where many other county facilities are a considerable drive away. The refresh is a facility milestone; it does not automatically prove new opening hours or a larger local book collection.
How to confirm services
Residents should consult Marin County Free Library for current Inverness branch hours, holds, events and accessibility details. The October 29 ribbon cutting took place at the Marin County Civic Center to celebrate the entire project, not necessarily as an event at the Inverness building itself.
